Traveling full time

The travel bug bit me when I was young.  Frequent trips from California to visit my grandparents in Europe planted the wanderlust seed in me that grows stronger with each travel experience.   So this is it I’m committed to traveling and living abroad and it all begins today!  Today is the first day of the rest of my life, retiring to travel at 50 (well I turn 50 in November).

So this is it I’m committed to traveling and living abroad full time, this site will be my way to share with all my friends what we learn.  The High’s and the Low’s in both experiences and price…because we want you to travel along with us too!

So here’s the deal…we don’t have a huge travel budget (especially with retiring early) but my standards are quite high, so I always research, research, research and work hard to maximize every travel dollar (big suitcase, little budget).

Sure it’s easy just to do a quick search or just call a travel agent, select the first trip that looks great and pay top dollar…if you have it. But that won’t guarantee that your top dollar gets you that top trip.  You’re probably just paying more where someone else on the same trip is paying less (like the guy next you on the airplane that paid half of what you did for the seat right smack next to you).   If you have unlimited funds then you are one of the lucky few, if you’re like me it takes time and research to find luxury travel without the luxury price tag. Don’t worry we’ll share the duds with you in our “Pissing Pot”, nothing worse than travel promises that don’t deliver.   I am PICKY with my travel.  If you are like us then this is the spot for you!  We want the best but don’t have a ton of money, I’m definitely a travel princess…make that a Queen.  I can’t stay in yucky hotels or anywhere that isn’t clean.  I prefer to mix with the locals and learn their culture not push mine on theirs.  (click here for our travel style).

I live to travel, I’ll spend all my money on travel, I don’t need “stuff”, just experiences.  I’ve traveled all over the globe and watched the calendar waiting for those few precious vacation days.  Now the time has come and I’m jumping in full time.

Today is my last day at work, what some consider a “real job”, a corporate sales job, and I am officially free to travel full time now (ok there is a little boxing and moving to do and I’ll share those tips for those that want them as well).  I’ve counted down the last two weeks since my “notice” and I’m excited that the end of my corporate career is complete. I’ll have to stick to a serious budget (I turn 50 this year) so with our savings (the King in tow) and a small military pension, we’re on our way and we’re off to share the journey and the fabulous gems we find. We’ll share and simplify our great finds and can’t wait to see you on the journey (join the community and share your tips here as well).
